5 Cooking Personalities You Should Follow
We love cooking, and we love taking on new projects and trying new things, but for that, we need inspiration, recipes, a guide of some sorts. And so we turn to those who are dedicated to their cooking, who've made a living out of it because precisely that's how they've made that possible: inspiring others through their cooking and their recipes.
Let's get inspired then. Here are 5 Cooking Personalities You Should Follow
Carla Lalli Music
She's the food director at Bon Appetit, a food magazine. We love her down to earth persona and the fact that she embraces her mistakes while she cooks instead of hiding them through editing. It makes you feel like you're in good company and that making mistakes is completely acceptable, which is exactly the way someone who wants you take on a new project should make you feel. And she's funny too.
You can find her on youtube at Bon Appetit's channel and you can follow her on Instagram too!
Claire Saffitz
She's a senior food editor at Bon Appetit, the food magazine that Carla Lalli directs that we just mentioned. Well, as you can see we consider Bon Appetit to be a good source of inspiration and recipes. Claire will give you the recipes alright, but she'll do it a little bit faster than Carla would. She won't stop to make jokes, or laugh, or highlight her mistakes, it's a different style in which she gives you the info that you need to know in a simple, fast, no-nonsense way. She's a great cook and she makes amazing dishes, so try making one of her recipes from time to time, we're sure you'll enjoy them!
Claire, much like Carla, you can find on youtube at Bon Appetit's channel and you can follow her on Instagram too!
Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa)
Perhaps more widely known as the Barefoot Contessa, Ina Garten is an incredible source of delicious recipes. Ina cooks everything to perfection, with incredible precision and dedication, so when you get a recipe from her, you know you're getting a good recipe. To what degree can you actually follow it to the letter? Well, that's on your plate. One thing we loved about Ina Garten's previous show Barefoot Contessa is that it made you feel as if you were a guest for dinner at her house. Maybe it could feel a bit corny at times, but who doesn't like that anyway? Nowadays she's taken up a format that caters more to what the digital age we live in craves: a not so personal summarize of her recipes in short and very well made videos that are featured on her website. Amazing food, great recipes, and a nice welcoming environment, that's what you can expect every time you watch Ina cook something in her kitchen.
You can visit her website for recipes and videos and you can follow her on Instagram. Also, a lot of the Barefoot Contessa's episodes are available on youtube though not through the Food Network Channel, so just look for "Barefoot Contessa" on youtube and you'll surely find great recipes to make.
Padma Lakshmi
A cooking author, actress, model, you name it. What's great about Padma Lakshmi's recipes is that they are healthy and, depending on where you're from, exotic. Indian food might not be so exotic to someone living in India, but to the rest of us, it might be. Her first book, Easy Exotic: Low-fat Recipes From Around The World is pretty straightforward, what the title says it is, it's what you'll find inside, so if that's what you're looking for, look no further. Her latest can be an incredible tool for your cooking since it's The Encyclopedia of Spices & Herbs. This book will tell you all about spices you've never tried, and open up your dishes to new and exciting possibilities.
You can find her recipes in her book, and on her website. You can also follow her on Twitter and Instagram.
Alex French Cooking Guy
On his youtube channel, Alex presents a series of recipes and tutorials filled with valuable information as to why things work the way they do. It's an interesting watch if you're interested in going a little bit down the rabbit hole of cooking since he'll go into things that a lot of others will either take for granted or be oblivious to. Beware, he's prone to say a few bad words here and there, but he doesn't overdo it. Another thing we like about Alex is his cute french pronunciation of the English language, it makes it just that much more interesting to watch. Sometimes the subjects he digs into can be a little bit geeky, but if you're into that kind of thing, you'll love his channel.
You can find Alex on his youtube channel, on Twitter, and Instagram. Everywhere kind of.
And that's it for today. We really hope you liked it and we hope to see you back soon!
